PhD in immunology, Iceland

PhD student in immunology at Biomedical Center, School of Health Sciences, University of Iceland, Reykjavik, Iceland.

A PhD student position is available to study neonatal immune response. Neonatal immune responses are weak and short lived and they are susceptible to infections. We have shown that adjuvants can accelerate and enhance neonatal immune responses and prolong their persistence. The PhD project will focus on the effects of novel adjuvants on the quality and strength of antibody response, phenotype and function of immune cells, gene expression, longevity of antibody secreting cells and immune memory and protection from infections. The project will involve the use of neonatal mice, isolation of cells from lymphoid organs, immunohistology and cellular analysis by ELISPOT and flow cytometry, antibody measurements by ELISA and analysis of gene expression by RT_PCR or sequencing, as well as other immunological, cellular and biochemical methods.

Postdoctoral scientist in cancer immunology

Scope of the project: We offer an exciting position in the field of tumor immunology in a highly clinically relevant research area. The focus of the group Immunopharmacology (head: PD Dr. Sebastian Kobold) is the development of new anti-tumoral immunotherapies. The postdoc will develop a novel strategy for antibody-based therapy of cancer. The project is embedded in the doctoral program i Target (Immunotargeting of Cancer) of the Elite Network of Bavaria (www.immunotarget.de) and in the Marie-Sklodowska Curie Network IMMUTRAIN, funded by the European Union.

Postdoc in basic mechanisms in primary immunodeficiency

A Three-year position as postdoc at the Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University, is open for appointment from October 1, 2018 or soon thereafter.

The innate immune system is the first barriers to infections. Patients with genetic defects in the innate immune system exhibit selective susceptibility to infections. We are using gene-modified mouse strains harboring disease-causing mutations identified in patients, and mouse models for virus infections to uncover the mechanisms leading to infectious diseases in genetically predisposed individuals. The work will include a panel of cutting-edge methods including immunohistochemistry, laser capture micro dissection, and RNA sequencing. This will be combined with in vitro work, based on e.g. human stem cell-derived cells.

Deadline
All applications must be made online and received by: 31.07.2018.

Postdoc position in CRISPR technology and immunology

A Three-year position as postdoc at the Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University, is open for appointment from October 1, 2018 or soon thereafter.

The position is associated with a larger program on innate immunology and virus infections. The successful candidates will be working on a project addressing the mechanisms governing cell death during virus infections and immune-signaling. For this purpose, we will use genome-wide CRISPR screens, cell culture systems, molecular biology/biochemistry, and mouse infection models.

All applications must be made online and received by: 31.07.2018
