SUMMARY:Ireland - Israel - Denmark meeting on Host-Pathogen communication
DESCRIPTION:Exploring the intricacies of host-pathogen communication is vital in order to understand why some microbes persist within a host\, while others are effectively cleared. As such\, host-pathogen communication is an urgent area of research underpinning human health and disease\, especially given the emerging concerns of antibiotic resistance. Understanding host-pathogen pathways requires intricate knowledge in the fields of both microbiology and immunology.\nLiving in a world of specialists\, where scientists sometimes invest their whole career studying one organism\, a specific pathway or a protein\, multidisciplinary discussions of host-pathogen interactions are highly needed. This international conference will provide such a forum for scientific exchange at the highest level\, between scientists from different research areas related to host-pathogen interactions\, with the aim to trigger fruitful collaborations addressing the urgent questions in the field.\nHigh-profile keynote speakers will present their work; Nobel Laureate Professor Bruce Beutler (UT Southwestern\, Dallas) and Professor Ralf Isberg (Tufts University\, Boston).\nThis meeting has an additional special focus of bringing researchers from Ireland\, Denmark and Israel together to learn about cutting edge biology and form new collaborations. Thus\, the conference will be a showcase for the exciting and original research emanating from these three small but innovative countries. \nDeadline for registration and poster submission: Oct 1st 2018 \nDeadline for travel fellowship abstract submission: Aug 25th 2018 \nOfficial website for the meeting \nFind out more

SUMMARY:5th European Congress of Immunology (ECI)
DESCRIPTION:Registration for ECI 2018 is now open! \nThe abstract deadline for ECI 2018 has been extended\, deadline is now April 29th. \nI would also like to take the opportunity to clarify the procedures around the travel applications for the meeting. \nPlease ignore that the age limit of 35 specified by EFIS. Just fill in your date of birth\, you will be able to proceed with the application anyway. All applications that are not awarded by EFIS will get a second chance from SSI as long as you are a member and do not have more than 5 “working-years” post-PhD. \nIn order to succeed with the submission you have to upload 3 documents \n1. Abstract \n2. CV \n3. Document that certifies that you are a member of a society affiliated to EFIS. This is not strict\, it is enough with a short letter from your supervisor/group leader who certifies that you are a member of your national society for 2018. \nIt is our pleasure to inform you that the registration for the 5th European Congress of Immunology (ECI)\, taking place in Amsterdam from September 2-5\, 2018\, is now open. \nWe hope that you will join us to exchange your latest research findings and to rejuvenate your overall insights in immunology and clinical translation. \nFor more information about registration fees and tickets\, click here \n

SUMMARY:Macrophage Biology in the Single-Cell Era
DESCRIPTION:Dear colleagues\,\nIt is our pleasure to invite you to the first edition of ‘Macrophage Biology in the Single-Cell Era’\, a VIB conference that will take place on October 26 and 27\, 2017\, in Ghent\, Belgium.\nTechnological advances now permit the transcriptomic profiling and precise tissue localization of macrophages at the single-cell level\, but these advances also bring puzzling questions regarding the inter- and intracellular networks that control macrophage function.\nTo help meet these exciting challenges this symposium will bring together leaders in the macrophage field as well as pioneers of novel single-cell technologies.\nRegister early for this meeting and save 30% by making use of the Early Bird discount \nYours sincerely\,\nGeert Raes\,\nVrije Universiteit Brussel\, BE\nVIB Center for Inflammation Research\, BE \nFind out more

SUMMARY:SSI annual meeting 2017
DESCRIPTION:WELCOME TO THE 44:TH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE SCANDINAVIAN SOCIETY OF IMMUNOLOGY (SSI 2017)\n17-20 October 2017\, Stockholm\, Sweden \nWe are delighted to welcome you to Stockholm and the 44th meeting of the Scandinavian Society for Immunology (SSI). The SSI meetings circulate among the national immunology societies in Scandinavia and in 2017 the Swedish Society for Immunology (SWIMM) has the honor of being the host. \nThe advances in the immunology field rapidly increase our understanding of how the immune system can be influenced to fight diseases. Several immunomodulatory treatments are now used in the clinic\, successfully managing a wide spectrum of diseases from cancer to chronic inflammation. \nImmunotherapy of cancer represents a particularly dynamic development\, and SSI 2017 will put an emphasis on this topic. However\, the meeting will also present cutting-edge research in many other fields of immunology\, from basic aspects to translational studies. We feel confident that there will be topics of interest for all immunologists. \nFind out more
